Feeling Crumby? Bake some bread!


is nothing better than a homemade loaf of bread! Something about a warm, crusty, freshly baked slice of buttered bread just sends my taste buds into overdrive.

The trouble, of course, is that for a lot of us, baking is somewhat terrifying and overwhelming -especially if you are just getting started!

This bread is perfect to begin overcoming your baking fears. There is no kneading needed, and before you know it you'll be enjoying your very own home baked buttered bread!


No knead - Extra Crusty Bread Dough Recipe




Ingredients:

  • 3 cups four - can be AP or bread flour

  • 2 tsp instant or rapid yeast

  • 2 tsp kosher salt

  • 1/1/2 cups warm water (not too got otherwise it will kill the yeast!)

  • Additional 2 tbsp flour for dusting and dough shaping

Instructions:

  1. Mix the flour, salt, and yeast together. Add water and mix with a spoon until flour is mixed in - the dough will be sloppy and wet.

  2. Cover with plastic wrap and let rise for 3 hours in a nice warm place. The dough should double in size.

  3. After the dough has risen, you can place the dough in the fridge for up to three days to develop flavor. You can also bake it right away if that works better! If you choose to refrigerate dough to develop flavor, take it out about an hour before you want to bake while the oven is preheating

  4. Preheat the oven to 450°. Place a Dutch oven with lid on into the oven to heat up.

  5. Sprinkle a work surface with 1 tbsp of flour, scrape dough onto surface and sprinkle remaining flour on top of dough.

  6. Using a dough scraper or any other flat tool, fold all of the sides into the middle - this is done to deflate the dough than to make a shape.

  7. Flip the bread onto a piece of parchment paper and slide into the preheated Dutch oven and transfer into your heated oven.

  8. Bake for 35 minutes covered, then another 8 - 10 minutes uncovered, until bread is crispy and brown - cool for 15 minutes before slicing.
